A life spent studying and working in various design disciplines (Fashion/Interiors/Textiles) has led me to this, Lauren Skye Studio Homewares. A boutique handmade homewares destination specialising in textile homewares (think cushions, table linen, eye pillows) and Interior Styling Services.
I believe that beauty is everywhere and is completely vital to our happiness. Far from frivolous, surrounding ourselves with beautiful objects and colours is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves.
I believe that creativity feeds the soul and kindness and generosity feed the heart.
I believe that form is just as important as function.
I believe that a beautiful home can serve as a tool for bringing people together as well as creating calm and serenity in those rare and precious moments of solitude.
Drawing on my Fashion and Interiors background, I love to work with moodboards to create a collection and one of my favourite stages of the design process is compiling various images that speak to me and creating a seasonal moodboard for the new collection.
It always amazes me how it organically takes form and shows me exactly which colours and prints I should be using. I’m especially inspired by fashion and nature.
All Lauren Skye Studio products are designed, printed and handmade in Australia. To minimise waste we produce the collections in small runs and then make to order. This also ensures that there is always something new to discover.
Having studied and working with fabrics since a very young age, I’m well aware of the impact the textile industry has on our fragile world so I’m taking the following steps towards offsetting it:
I mainly work with natural fibre fabrics and print with non toxic, solvent free, water based pigment inks.
I only print what is needed, any wastage generated is re-purposed.
I prefer to use either Innergreen cushion inserts, which are produced locally in Sydney using fibre made from recycled PET bottles, or microCloud faux feather inserts which are animal friendly and allergen free.
Where possible I choose to ship products using sustainable packaging such as compostable satchels, paper packing tape, reusable calico bags and dissolvable packing peanuts
Quality is my top priority when designing and making our products. In this ‘fast fashion’ world, it is becoming more and more important to buy once, buy well. Our cushions and linen homewares are designed to last you for years, with correct care, and due to the natural fibres I mostly work with, will only feel more luxurious with age.
Quality of Customer Service is also at the top of my priority list and I will do everything in my power to ensure that your Lauren Skye Studio experience is an enjoyable one.
